The Scent Of Her Soul Film

So my husband, Jonathan, and I desire to create a short-film about the sex-trafficking industry. The story is an adaptation of a powerful novel written by Christian author, Bryan Davis. The plot: A vigilante father uses a unique gift to find and rescue sex-trafficking victims.

Mike, the father, knows first-hand what it’s like to have a child kidnapped and dragged into the human-trafficking industry. After suffering an injury that renders him helpless to rescue his daughter from a kidnapper, Mike awakens with a special gift: he is able to detect the scent of a girl’s soul.

Armed with this gift, he sets out on quest after quest to rescue missing girls across the country, hoping to gain clues about his own daughter along the way.

We really believe in this inspirational and beautiful story, and know it will impact audiences and can put a dent in the dark world of human-trafficking. We desire to enter the film in the Miami Film Festival’s short-film category.

God has been opening doors. A very talented cinematographer and brother in Christ has offered his services and the provision of equipment free of charge. We will even be filming one of the scene’s in his home. Also, a film teacher at Calvary Chapel Academy and Palm Beach Atlantic University has also offered to help us with this project.

The script is finished, the shooting schedule set, and actors are submitting to our project, a few of which have already been cast. None of the actors or crew is getting paid, however, we need funds to provide lunch and coffee as well as funds for props, wardrobe, and the film festival submission fee. It will only take under $1,000 to make this film happen!

If you desire to help be a voice for the voiceless, then please donate! All who donate $50 or more will have their name in the credits! And those who contribute $100 or more will be invited to attend the premier party!

You can donate at our Go Fund Me Page.

Thank you so much for your time and support.

Reapers Book Trailer Hubby And I Made

So hubby and I offered to make a book trailer for the awesome, Bryan Davis, or as I like to call him, Obi-Wan Brynobi.

He just came out with a new novel entitled Reapers. Devoured this fascinating story in less than a week. Don’t let the name fool you, these Reapers aren’t anything you’d expect, but I’ll let the trailer speaker for itself. My hubby, aka Sir Jonathan not only directed this, but he also played the main character. It was a pleasure to both serve our brother in Christ, and team up for the advancement of God’s kingdom! Enjoy! Reapers Book Trailer

What are your thoughts? Is this a book you’d be interested in reading? Feel free to let me know in a comment.

I’m a Christian, But Why Does My Art Fall So Short Of Excellent?

“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

For us Christian artists, that means every project we make or are apart of, we do it with Christ in mind. We do it for Him, and make it known that it is being done for Him.

If we don’t accept this, and want to keep the reason for why we do what we do, “on the low,” we are either ashamed of Christ and thus denying Him before man, or we are living to please man, and that means we are “no longer a servant of Jesus Christ.”

Being honest about our faith will cost us something. But denying it will cost us everything:

“But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 10:33)

Doing everything in Christ’s name also means we do everything in excellence. If we commit a song, book, film, or even a simple blog to the Creator of this incredibly beautiful and grandiose universe and declare that to the world, how can we present anything short of excellent? I’m preaching to myself too here.

“Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.”(Colossians 3:23, 24)

To speak the truth in love, I say to Christian film-makers, why aren’t your films done in excellence? Why do you settle for mediocre acting and writing? Are you truly making these films for the Lord? Does not our King operate in a Spirit of excellence, and do we not have this same Spirit within us? Was not the temple built in astounding beauty and excellence, and were not the singers that sang unto our King utterly superb?

You desire to reach the lost, but who desires to spend money watching a poorly made film? I know I sure don’t. Why, if we have the treasures of wisdom and knowledge that are hidden in Christ, and if we are anointed by the Almighty, do we produce art that isn’t beautiful and moving?

I pray we repent and work diligently to produce only works of excellence for our Savior and King. He deserves nothing less, and we are not serving the people in love if we give them something that will have no affect on their soul.

“God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom. Daniel also understood visions and dreams of every kind. The king interviewed them, and among all of them, no one was found equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. So they began to serve in the king’s court. In every matter of wisdom and understanding that the king consulted them about, he found them 10 times better than all the diviner-priests and mediums in his entire kingdom.” (Daniel 1:17, 19, 20)

May we put forth art that is 10 times better than those who do not yet know Jesus Christ as Lord, that He may be glorified and His name all the more magnified on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
