As Christians, the battle for our soul begins in the mind. Satan’s first attack in history against God’s children, Adam and Eve, was to deceive the mind.
Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’? ” (Genesis 3:1 HCSB)
“Did God really say?”
Then satan continues this attack with a lie:
“No! You will not die,” the serpent said to the woman. “In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5)
First, he tries to instill doubt, then he flat out deceives, and if you do not know the Word of God well and fully trust it, you are prime bait for the devil’s lying cunning.
As Christians, we cannot be lazy when it comes to personal bible study. We must understand that satan prowls our lives and seeks opportune moments to trick us, so if we aren’t in the Word and building up our faith by it, we make ourselves weak and susceptible to deception.
So please, study your bibles! Know them well! Read God’s truth in its entirety, not just portions or verses here and there, five minutes each morning, but read as if your soul depended on it—because it does!
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 HCSB)
Much love to you all,
